Bookmarking Demon
Developed by EdwinSoft, this cracking piece of social media software is the winner in our social bookmarking tools shoot-out.
Even though all the software featured on this site is capable of doing the job of social bookmarking, this position is well deserved for a couple of reasons.
First, Bookmarking Demon is updated regularly. Not just once a month, but sometimes two or three times in the same week. You have to understand that this is a massive point, because the bookmarking sites are always updating and changing how they operate. And when this happens, all the automated software in the world won’t help you if it can’t talk to the site.
Simply put, the fast and regular updates to Bookmarking Demon mean that when a change happens (and they happen a lot), you are back in the game faster than anyone else, keeping you ahead. In use, we found BMD to update more comprehensively and more often than its competitors.
The second reason is closely related to the first. When you buy BMD, you pay once and you have it for life. No monthly fees, no update costs. If you run your website like a business, the return on investment suddenly becomes a lot higher compared to the also excellent but totally overkill SENuke.
And because of the speed of the updates, the software retains its value. You won’t find any working copies of BMD on torrent or file download sites. You purchase it and it feels valuable to you, unlike the cracked copy of Photoshop that every foreteen year old IT geek has. In a world where everything feels cheap and disposable, this really is a worthwhile and exclusive buy.
Now, we have recommended this program to a few people before and they were like “I’ll buy it and get the money back refund once I’ve copied it”. Interestingly, none of them have ever wanted the refund.

At its core, Bookmarking Demon does what all the other programs do – automate the posting of bookmarks to multiple sites. The elegance with which it does this, combined with the above two reasons, this becomes a piece of software that you can do nothing but desire.
By default, BMD comes with around one hundred sites pre-loaded, with the option for you to load lists of alternative sites based on Scuttle and Pligg. We recently saw a list of 3,000+ of these sites pre-compiled for Bookmarking Demon, so you could have a selection of many thousands ready to post to by the time you get the software installed.
The built in account manager is designed for multiple accounts across multiple bookmarking sites, with automatic account creation from the massive database of alias names. Of course, email verification is automatic too, so you don’t have keep hitting those “click here to verify your account” messages. This is all streamlined into an effective project management system, so you can organize your campaigns, identities, accounts etc, something that is lacking in all the other applications reviewed.
There is also a post scheduler and randomizer that makes your bookmarking look more natural by allowing you to pick times to post bookmarks when you are away from your computer. The randomizer changes the speed that items are entered into bookmarking site, so it doesn’t look like you are using a auto-poster.
Then there is the support for proxies (essential if you are doing lots of bulk work), spinnable text and Decaptcher.com, oh and RSS and domain crawlers too. In fact, you will find so much stuff in Bookmarking Demon that it makes your head spin.
We particularly like the RSS camoflague feature. This allows your site to be bookmarked within a list of feeds that will be pulled off a website of your choosing. When your account is examined at whatever social bookmarking site you happen to use, your site will be mixed in with other popular stories from whatever feeds are appropriate for you.
This does two things really:
1. Your account will look more natural, instead of just looking like spam
2. If people are following your content and you post from good feeds, they are more likely to click on the sites you want to promote
You really have to start wondering if EdwinSoft have come up with the perfect software program.
Whilst it would not take much for some of the other programs reviewed here to catch up to BMD, the fact is that they haven’t and until they start looking at what Bookmarking Demon is doing so well in terms of its elegance, management and process streamlining, this software will be in first place. It’s as simple as that.
